Do you every wonder what it might feel like to be on Venus? Whaddaya mean no? Yeesh, you need to let your imagination loose. Venus has a very thick atmosphere which causes the surface pressure to be about 90 times that of Earth. Here on Earth we don't think much of the 14.7 pounds per square inch that is constantly pushing on us. Yessiree, this pressure is caused by the 50 mile high ocean of air on top of us. That's right, a 50 mile high, one inch square, column of air, would weigh about 14.7 pounds. Now let's go to Venus. The surface pressure would be around 1323 pounds/square inch. YIKES, that's some seriously harsh crushing power! The Morrison Labs budget would not allow a visit to Venus, but below are a few pictures of students that have volunteered to be crushed by our whimpy 14.7 pounds/square inch. They found it to be a lot more powerful than they imagined. Don't try this at home without parent supervision!
