Paper Towel Class Results For Wet Strength 2006 PDF
Students at Morrison Labs tested the following five brands of paper towels for strength absorbency, and price: Bounty. Brawny, Green Forest, Sparkle and Mardi Gras. The procedure for testing wet strength is listed below.
1. Cut 2 cm by 28 cm strips of each towel.
2. Tape a hook to one end of the towel and tape the other end to the
lab table.
3. Put five drops of water in the middle of the towel.
4. Add weights to the hook until the towel breaks.
5, Mass the weights the towel was able to hold.
6. Repeat 2 more times and average your three trials.
After testing for wet strength our scientists tested for absorbency uisng their own individual methods.

In this lab students learned to control variables, used scientific method, practiced using balances. recorded, analyzed and interpreted data, displayed there results in graphs, worked in cooperative lab groups, and used creativity to develop their own method of absorbency testing.
