Congratulations to all my students in period three that contributed to the fierce nail stack of 94 nails for the year 2001. Woo Hoo! Special recognition goes out to Shay M., Monique D. , and Kelsey C. You girls so rule! Shay and her team were able to reach the second highest total ever. I appreciated their enthusiasm, concentration, creativity, clever strategies, and determination to do their best. Balancing a stack of 94 nails is an amazing accomplishment considering they had only 25 minutes! Below is a picture of their stack in progress. Boo-yah!

Below is the all time record stack of 1999. Working individually at first, then in groups, students tried to balance six nails on the top of one nail head. Period three stacked an amazing 101 nails. D.JS., Gary C., Chad B., and Jay M were the builders of this amazing stack. Another period three group (Curtis, Steve, Ryan, and John) stacked 47 which also broke the all time record. All my periods showed excellent cooperation, persistence and good critical thinking skills solving this problem. The results of past years are on the graph below.
