Student stays on task and puts forth effort

When the bell rings this student pulls out their journal and starts writing the question on the board quietly. They get out their agenda and copy the homework on the board. They get out any assignments due that day and have them ready to turn in. They check the data boards to see if it's their turn to take UV or Sunspot, or record data in the computer or take the inside and outside temperatures and they help do those things without being reminded. They do not waste any time taking data.

Student listens and follows directions and rules the first time.

This student listens to directions carefully and sets a good example of other students to follow. They are a leader by example. They use common sense and do not need to be reminded about what is appropriate class behavior. This student is responsible and gets class reports signed and shares handouts and letters with their parents all the time.

Student is responsible, organized, and respectful to other students and the teacher

This student raises their hand to speak, listens to the answers of other students, encourages others with positive comments and uses lab materials in the correct and safe way. They clean up their lab areas and leave them looking better than when they came.

Student participates and adds to the class in a positive manner

Student asks thoughtful questions, helps and is kind to people in their lab group, but never lets others copy their answers. You really notice this student goes out of their way to be helpful and kind to others. Polite and considerate come to mind when you think of this student,

This student may make negative comments or jokes about others, they leave their area a mess and do not help clean up. Students in their lab group are complaining and asking when will seats be changed. Student may argue, make comments, or talk back in a negative way, when asked to do things.

Student is doing things that slow down the pace of the class and cause others to be distracted, such as making comments, touching other students or their property, throwing things, making noises, playing with toys

Student does not start the journal and board questions at the bell and talks to friends. Student brings other material to class to play with and cause disruptions. During labs they do not help but rather cause their group to get behind by playing with lab materials or not doing their fair share of the work

Student does dangerous things with lab equipment, or uses equipment in inappropriate ways, touches equipment without permission, bothers and touches others in there lab group distracting their attention. Things may be broken because of carelessness. This student may eat in class, chew gum, get out of their seat without permission, waste time, by walking around the room talking. This student is not responsible and does not get class reports signed and does not share handouts and letters with their parents. This student doesn't show up for detention when asked to come in.

Student is negative and disrespectful towards the teacher and/or other students, and makes no attempt to change behavior.

Students makes unkind or inappropriate comments about lab group members or blurts out comments without permission during videos, while the teacher is talking, or other student's are answering questions Student may use inappropriate language, write on desks and leaves there area in a mess with papers on the floor. This student argues, makes comments or talks back when asked to do something.
